With a growing 15-year-old athlete who often has friends over to play volleyball in the backyard, we go through a lot of food at my house. I make sure to have plenty of snacks on hand, and ALDI is my hero grocery store for this. And while its latest seasonal offering might be targeted towards people hosting Memorial Day gatherings, for me, it’s also perfect for everyday teenage feasting.

Why I Love ALDI’s Park Street Deli Party Size Fresh Cut Salsa

First of all, the Park Street Deli Party Size Fresh Cut Salsa tastes just as good as homemade or the made-to-order fresh salsas you get at a Mexican restaurant.  Second, it only costs $4.49 for a whopping 32-ounce container, or about 14 cents per ounce.

I’ve seen it in both medium and mild flavors. To me, the medium is actually quite mild and well-balanced, with a hint of heat from the diced jalapeños. When you open up a container, you immediately smell fresh tomatoes with a tang of citrus. The salsa has bright chopped tomatoes with chunks of onion, jalapeño, and tiny bits of cilantro. It’s refreshing and more than a little bit addictive.

The regular-sized Park Street Deli fresh salsas usually last two or three days in my refrigerator, but if a pack of teenage boys come over, it’s gone in under an hour. The party-sized salsas, on the other hand, can serve up to four teenagers, and they will last at least two hours. For most people, it’s the perfect-sized salsa for a party — pour some in a bowl, then refresh it when it’s getting low.

If you’re serving it at a summer cookout or bringing it to a potluck, I recommend squeezing some lime juice and sprinkling some minced cilantro on top for an extra boost of fresh flavor. If you do that, there’s no way your friends or family will believe it comes from ALDI’s deli section.

I love adding this salsa to my tacos. Sometimes, when I’m making taco meat, I pour about 1/2 a cup into the pan. It’s also a fantastic, quick sofrito to pour into a pan and sauté if you’re making beans and short on time.

It tastes great with quesadillas, fajitas, and pretty much any Tex-Mex dishes you serve. I’ve also used it to make quick guacamole. Pour in about 1/4 to 1/2 cup with two or three fresh avocados, and either mash or mix in a food processor

With so many ways to use and enjoy it—not to mention all the teenagers who come through my home—a couple of party-sized salsas might get me through a week. There’s no doubt I’m stocking up on this the next time I make a trip to ALDI.
