One of my favorite ways to spend a day off is by visiting grocery stores. While my teenage self would have rolled his eyes at the thought of such an activity, I know I've officially entered adulthood when this feels like a highlight of my weekend. I enjoy picking up certain products from various retailers, turning my weekly grocery hauls into an exciting treasure hunt.

My latest treasure? The delicious Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips from Trader Joe's. Thanks to the growing popularity online, I knew I had to get my hands on a bag. My only problem? I wish I had grabbed more than one bag.

Trader Joe's Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips

  • Price: $2.99 for a 5.5-ounce bag
  • Why I Love It: Each bite is satisfyingly crisp, savory, and seriously better than any potato chip I've ever had.

Everything You Need To Know about Trader Joe's Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips

As someone who generally avoids plain potato chips unless there's a dip involved, I was admittedly skeptical about this flavor. But the idea of reimagining iconic Irish, potato-based dishes like boxty or colcannon quickly won me over, along with their incredible texture and bold punch of flavor. Oh, the $2.99 price point for a 5.5-ounce bag doesn't hurt either.

Turning garlic butter mashed potatoes into chip form is no easy task. To achieve it, Trader Joe's went straight to Irish suppliers to source crinkle-cut, authentically Irish potatoes, which are then flavored with rich butter and garlic and cooked to perfection. Each bite is satisfyingly crisp, savory, and seriously better than any potato chip I've ever had.

How To Enjoy Trader Joe's Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips

Potato chips belong on a sandwich. I like to spread a generous helping of spicy mustard on toasted sourdough, then layer on sliced turkey, salami, and cheddar cheese. After that, I add a handful of TJ's Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips and smash it all down with another slice of sourdough. The messier the sandwich, the better it is.

While these chips certainly fare well alongside your favorite sandwiches, they work just as well as a standalone snack. The fun ruffled shape and perfect crunch are just too hard to resist—the main reason I wish I had bought another bag.

No matter your snacking preferences, Trader Joe's Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips are a truly versatile creation. They're sturdy and substantial enough to handle a variety of creamy dips and condiments, and they pair exceptionally well with caramelized onion dip—a longtime favorite of mine.

Do yourself a favor and snag a few bags before they sell out for good. Who knows how long this tasty treasure will be around!
