Experience
Maren Ellingboe King is an experienced food stylist, recipe developer, and the author of "Fresh Midwest." She has a passion for beautiful, delicious food with plenty of bright, fresh flavors. She currently lives in her hometown of Minneapolis, and her cooking is influenced by her Midwestern and Scandinavian heritage, as well as time spent living in Bologna, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Her career in food started as a line cook, working summers while attending Wesleyan University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages, she moved to New York City, where she worked as an Editorial Assistant and later as an Assistant Editor at Food & Wine. She relocated to the Bay Area in 2015, where she assisted various food stylists on shoots for The New York Times, Williams-Sonoma, Fitbit, and more. Her other projects included creating a series of recipe videos for Sunset, testing recipes for Good Eggs, and coordinating culinary events for the start-up Just Add Salt. In 2020, she returned home to Minneapolis, where she is currently working as a food stylist and recipe developer for clients including Target, Macy's, and Food Network Magazine, among others.
Favorite kitchen tool: "My favorite cooking tool is my eight-inch chef's knife. It's essential for almost every recipe, and I always pack my knives for jobs and when on vacation!"
