I try to treat potlucks and get-togethers the same way I treat bringing a meal to a new mom: I never want to saddle the host with dishes they'll have to remember to return. It feels like giving someone a gift, but with a chore attached.

I like to be the thoughtful friend who brings dessert, not the one texting two weeks later asking, "Hey, did I leave my pie plate at your place?" That's why I'm excited about this $1.25 reusable pie container from Dollar Tree. Like the reusable cake tray I'm so fond of, it looks decent, travels well, comes in handy, and doesn't cause me one iota of stress if it doesn't make it home. In fact, I prefer it doesn't!

Why I Love Dollar Tree's Reusable Pie Containers

The clear domed lid twists securely onto the white scalloped base, essential when transporting something wobbly like a whipped cream-topped dessert. That feature means I can place it on the passenger side floor without performing what feels like a trust fall exercise every time I make a turn.

The container's lightweight design makes it perfect for summer gatherings where I'm already juggling a million things. Despite weighing next to nothing, they can handle hefty pies. And the scalloped white base looks presentable enough to go straight from my car to the dessert table.

What makes these containers worth their weight in gold (or, in this case, $1.25) is the freedom they give me and the host. If someone compliments my dessert, I can genuinely say, "Please, take the leftovers!"

I don't have to worry about my container being returned, which is especially helpful when bringing food to someone who already has enough on their plate—like new parents, someone recovering from surgery, or a friend hosting a big gathering. The container doesn't become something else for them to deal with.

How I Use This Dollar Tree Container

These containers work perfectly for many summer desserts beyond traditional pies. For a classic pie, though, I either transfer the cooled pie directly to the container or place my entire pie pan inside (the container holds a 10-inch pie).

They're even more ideal for making other no-bake desserts because you can make and serve everything right in the container without transferring anything. For example, I love using these containers for mango float, a popular icebox pie, a classic tiramisu, or anything with a no-bake press-in crust. I'm particularly fond of million dollar pie, no-bake pumpkin pie, and any no-bake cheesecake where baking the crust is optional.

The 10-inch diameter is slightly bigger than most standard recipes, but I make extra (typically 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 times the recipe). And the dome provides enough clearance for those gorgeous whipped toppings and fresh fruit garnishes that make summer desserts so special.

The fact that it's freezer-safe also means I can prepare some components in advance when I know I'll be busy closer to the event. Beyond desserts, the base makes a great veggie or fruit tray or more casual mini charcuterie boards, and the clear dome keeps everything fresh until guests arrive.

For just $1.25 each, these pie containers make it easier to share homemade desserts without the stress of transportation or awkward container retrieval.
