Apple Mandy has lived in Shanghai and Hong Kong for 15 years before moving to New York in 2020. She has written for several publications, including FoodNetwork.com, BBC World's Table, The Kitchn, The Spruce Eats, VeryWell Fit, Simply Recipes, and more. She writes mostly about food, including Filipino and Chinese cooking, chefs' profiles, explainers and grocery content. She also develops and tests recipes for Simply Recipes and The Kitchn.
Before freelancing, Apple's work experiences span across working in print and digital publishing, marketing and communications, and breaking news. She spearheaded editorial lineups, did in-house marketing then went to work for a Hong Kong award-winning marketing and public relations agency. She returned to food writing and worked as an assistant editor for a luxury magazine owned by South China Morning Post, where she wrote and published in-depth features and chef's profiles, including Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisa.
